Assess real seamanship before your guests arrive

We're developing an online seamanship assessment system that replaces the traditional sailing résumé with scenario-based competency evaluation. Guests answer practical questions, receive a competency score, and, if needed, get additional instruction before they ever step aboard. 

How It Works

The automated questionnaire assesses practical competency through short, scenario-based seamanship questions covering areas such as:

  • Recommended anchor-rode scope at various depths
  • Understanding of navigational charts, marks, and right-of-way rules
  • Basic boat systems knowledge, including generator use, VHF operation, holding tanks, and more
  • Mooring ball pickup procedures
  • Emergency protocol familiarity


The system evaluates responses, assigns a competency score, and flags sailors who may require additional briefing or a hired captain. Supplemental instruction can be provided if requested or deemed necessary.
